About Bob Marley
雷鬼教父Bob Marley 1945年4月6日出生於牙買加,是英國海軍白人軍官和黑人女僕的兒子..作為混血兒的他,從小在貧民窟裡中長大,在那貧民窟中渡過了他的童年...艱難的生活使他深知要如何做一平凡人,所以,即使後來他的音樂遍佈全球,他也從不以大明星自居。
1964年Marley開始了他的演藝生涯,三年後 (1964) 他有了自己的The Warlers(哭泣者)樂隊...他的音樂與熱情很快贏得了牙買加音樂界的支持。不久他的單曲唱片"我仍在哭泣"以及"孤獨是一種痛"連續幾個月打入了牙買加的排行榜,並對歐洲樂壇產生影響..1972年Marley推出了專輯"點燃"(Catch A Fire)和"燃燒"(Burning)這引起當時評論界和藝術界的一致好評,也使他和他的樂隊聲譽更加如日中天...1975那年,Marley的世界巡迴演唱,更是讓他的音樂遍及全球,數百萬人都在為Marley的成功而歡呼。
1981年5月11日Marley死於癌症,僅得年36歲。在短短的20年中,Marley和"哭泣者樂隊"出版了多張專輯..如"點燃"和"燃燒"都是十分暢銷的唱片。除此之外還包括歌頌他所敬仰的"法斯特法理教"的音樂。1984年,他最後的專題"傳說"(Legend)發行。Marley的一生是快樂的..他同時也把快樂帶給了許多人,牙買加政府為了紀念他的成就,將他的生日明訂為牙買加的一個國定節日。
No Women,No Cry則是"婦女解放運動研習營"的必唱名曲,這首在70年代就讓民權女歌手Joan Baez發揚光大而百唱不厭,80年代又被德國舞曲天皇Boney M再度唱紅...你現在聽到的就是Boney M翻唱的這個版本。幾十年來這個世界有了巨大的變化,卻依然繼續唱著這個"女人不要哭,女人站起來,凡事會好轉(Everything's gonna be all right!)這樣的勵志故事...
